The Druid's Stone in the grounds of St Mary's Church has an interesting legend attached to it.
Folklore and local gossip claim that it was used by the druids in religious ceremonies over 2000 years ago. It's interesting to note that churches were often built on pagan shrines and so the stone could have formed part of such a structure. Others claim it was brought here from Bungay Castle after the castle fell into ruin. But why would someone go to the trouble of doing this for no apparent purpose? It's said that you can call up the Devil by dancing around the stone twelve times. You have been warned! |
